Missing the Metropolis of Northeast Ohio

So everything is flat. EVERYTHING. And every town appears to have murals and antiques and they are FLAT and have dirt roads that cross the highway and and and....

I'm tired, but today was very adventuresome. There will be more info at a later time.

Four states in 13 hours

Day one was a tour of states one may or may not ever want to drive though.

Ohio: Boring.

Indiana: Deadly.

Illinois: Hectic and with a ridiculous amount of tolls that cause serious issues.

Wisconsin: WHAT THE HELL IS UP WITH WISCONSIN?! This place is madness. It begins all innocently and like Illinois, and then all of a sudden there are hills and water slides and advertisements for Dells, but no one really knows what those are.

Shelby and I realized a bit into Wisconsin that we had no idea what, exactly, the Wisconsin Dells were. I sent a text to my lovely brother, who said a series of lakes (and tubes). I did not believe this, as that would have made The Farmer in the Dell Aquaman. So, I called my father, who said valleys made from a stream. This sounded more plausible, but then we remembered we had a AAA book, which informed us that it's a giant tourist trap formed around some stupid rock formations. We passed the Dells, then immediately the crazy hit the fan and there were giant rocks sticking out of the ground and random hills in fields and what have you.

Then... Minnesota, which is pretty and all but looks pretty much like Ohio. So, basically, Wisconsin is crazy-ville. Be advised.

Got in about 6:30 Minnesota time, had dinner, and are now at Shelby's lovey friend's family's house. Huzzah!

Leaving bright and early for another 13 hours of driving. Hooray?

A start!

We've gotten a late start by a day, due to my own foolishness, but now we're off.

It seems that to drive to Alaska, one must wake up excessively early and promptly second-guess all of one's cold weather gear one has packed thanks to the breeze coming in through one's window. Parkas are lacking in my attempts to save space for Shelby's worldly goods, as well as to have the magic number of bags to fly home with little fanfare, my figuring that I can just wear a lot of my clothes if it gets freezing, but I am grossly unsure. And chilly.

A Start

Everyone wants reports on Alaska, and the websites about people's actual experiences are few and far between. Hopefully, this will be a way for both things to be remedied. If not, it will be a way for some pictures to go up at least. We're not sure what our internet status will be, either, but we're hoping for the best.

Hooray attempts at travel writing! Hooray!

We're taking the lower route when it gets up into crossing the border; not sure why it won't let me mark that on there.
